THE IMPACT

an exploration of experiences and healing

On Sunday October 4, JrBAA is bringing community together at Coquitlam College for an afternoon that matters. A space for honest conversation about what it really means to be a Black Student in BC’S schools from Black Youth for Black Youth and open to anyone who wants to listen, learn and stand with them.

The IMPACT” is a Black Youth Panel dedicated to providing a safe, supportive space for youth to engage in meaningful dialogue about their experiences with microaggressions, and acts of anti-Black racism in schools. This event is designed to cultivate a strong sense of community while equipping students with strategies to navigate and address these challenges.

2026 brings our 5th year of collaboration with Open Mind Counselling, and registered clinical counsellors Lindi Setiloane and John Nweke, to ensure a therapeutic environment where students can openly discuss potentially traumatic experiences related to their education and life in B.C. We have 6 Panelists ready to engage in the disscussion. “So What’s Next?” We hope you will Join the Conversation. Moving Forward will once again join us to provide counselling resources and support.

Expect real stories, expert-facilitated dialogue, a Youth Panel unlike any other, and a community that show’s up for it’s own. One afternoon. One conversation long overdue. Be part of it.

The future of our Youth starts with the right information. Coquitlam College is joining the Impact to open doors. - not just coversation. Their information session gives students and families a direct line to real answers about university transfer pathways, high school completion, and English language programs designed to launch the next chapter. Whether you are mapping out Grade 12 or already dreaming of your degreee, come ask questions and see what is possible - in the right room.

We hope you will come and enjoy food, refreshments and conversation. Registration is required.
