Get ready to take the next step in your academic journey with the College Readiness Workshop, presented by the Junior Black Achievement Awards (JrBAA). This workshop is scheduled for June 23, 2024, at 2:30 pm at the Poirier Sports & Leisure Complex, 633 Poirier Street, Coquitlam, BC, and is open to students in grades 7 to 12 and their parents.
This one-day, three-hour interactive workshop is designed to help students create impressive college profiles and make informed decisions about their academic futures. Participants will gain essential skills and knowledge to navigate the college application process successfully.

Talk the Talk: EDUCATIONAL SESSION & WORKSHOP

Based on the POWERtalk International Training Program, Talk The Talk is a one-day education session and workshop.
Participants will learn the “Top 10 Tips” of effective presentation delivery as well as review the “Stellar Speech” Competition rules. This year’s workshop will be held at Byrne Creek Community School in Burnaby on Saturday January 18 from 10am-5:30pm.
Youth Council members will present interactive modules where participants learn the “Top 10 Tips” of effective presentation delivery. We will also review the “Stellar Speech” Competition rules.
Module topics include platform presence, body language and gestures, vocal effectiveness, talking habits and speech construction, technical and visual aids, and how to bring all of these components together to create an impactful presentation. Participants will be provided lunch and door prizes will be available.
