Candace Knoll
Founder and President
Because of her dedication, loyalty, and passion about empowering and uplifting the Black community, Candace Knoll re-establishmed the Jr. Black Achievement Awards (JrBAA) program in 2022 and is its current President.
She is also a life member of International Training in Communication, a Past Region President, a POWERtalk Public Speaking Course Facilitator, and a 3rd place International Speech Contest Winner.
In her 25 years as a union activist, she served as an Executive Board member for New West & District Labour Council, President of the United Steelworkers (USW) Local 1944 Unit 51, Chair of the National Civil and Human Rights Committee, and a Founding Committee Member of the United Steelworkers National Anti-Racism Committee.
She served on the Bargaining Committee negotiating for the Telus workers rights for the 2017 and 2022 contracts.
She recently completed her Community Capacity Certification program and earned her Restorative Justice Certification through SFU.
Candace has been honoured to receive the Labour Council Elsie Awards, the United Way Labour Appreciation Award, The King Charles III Coronation Medal, and the Soroptimist International of Tri-Cities Ruby Award.
Tracy adole
Vice President - Elect
Dr. Tracy Adole is an educator, researcher, and community leader with over 16 years of experience in education, research, and program development across academic, non-profit, and public-sector environments. She holds a PhD in Geography and Environment from the University of Southampton (UK) and currently teaches Physical Geography at Coquitlam College. Tracy is also the Co-Founder and Director of Research at ASFARO Educational Consultancy, where she supports students, families, and institutions through evidence-based educational planning and capacity-building initiatives.
Tracy brings to the JrBAA Board a strong commitment to youth empowerment, mentorship, and equitable access to education. Her community service includes leadership roles with NatureKids BC, the Air Cadet League of Canada (BC Provincial Committee), and several civic and youth-focused organizations. Through her professional and volunteer work, she is dedicated to creating pathways that help young people build confidence, leadership skills, and long-term success.
Outside of her professional and board responsibilities, Tracy enjoys playing the piano at church, leisurely games of chess, and spending quality time with her family.
